What is Gel X Nails? & why are the girlies talking about it?
Unlike traditional nail extensions, GelX uses a specially formulated gel material that is pre-shaped into nail tips, which are then applied to the natural nails using a non-damaging adhesive. The tips can then be customized to the desired length and shape, and cured using a UV or LED lamp.
One of the main benefits of GelX is that it is a much gentler and less damaging option than other types of nail extensions. Additionally, GelX is generally considered to be more flexible and lightweight than traditional extensions, which can make them feel more comfortable to wear.
Overall, GelX can be a great option for anyone who wants to add length and durability to their nails without the potential damage or discomfort associated with other methods.
Applying GelX nail extensions requires a few specialized tools and products, but the process is relatively straightforward and can be done at home with some practice. Here are the general steps for applying GelX nail extensions:
Here’s a link to all the products and tool you would need to get started!
- Prep your natural nails: Start by cleaning your nails and removing any old nail polish. Use a cuticle pusher to gently push back your cuticles and file your nails into your desired shape.
- Apply a base coat: Apply a thin layer of base coat to each nail, making sure to cover the entire surface of the nail. Cure the base coat under a UV or LED lamp according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Choose and apply GelX tips: Choose the appropriate size GelX nail tips for each nail, and apply a small amount of non-damaging adhesive to the back of the tip. Press the GelX tip onto your natural nail, and gently hold it in place for a few seconds until the adhesive sets. Repeat for each nail.
- Trim and shape the tips: Use nail clippers or scissors to trim the GelX tips to your desired length, and file them into your desired shape using a nail file.
- Apply a top coat: Apply a thin layer of top coat to each nail, making sure to cover the entire surface of the nail and the GelX tips. Cure the top coat under a UV or LED lamp according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Finish with cuticle oil: Once the top coat is cured, apply a small amount of cuticle oil to each nail to moisturize and nourish your nails and cuticles.
That’s it! With some practice, you can achieve beautiful and durable GelX nail extensions at home.
